Hakimi, Doue Shine as PSG Win Historic First Champions League Title

Achraf Hakimi and Desire Doue were a class apart as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Inter Milan 5-0 to finally lift the UEFA Champions League trophy for the very first time.

The final at the Allianz Arena in Munich was billed to be a keenly-contested one as PSG got past the likes Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout phase while Inter edged past the likes of Barcelona.

Luis Enrique’s men were however the side with more intent in Munich which showed after 12 minutes when Morocco right-back Hakimi connected with Doue to score the first goal.

Ninteen-year-old Doue, of Ivorian heritage, put PSG 2-0 up eight minutes later when his strike took a deflection off Inter defender Frederico Dimarco, becoming the youngest player to score and assist in a Champions League final.

The Parisians were not done yet and added a third in the 63rd minute as Doue made it a brace with a powerful strike off an assist from Portugal midfielder Vitinha, and became the first player in Champions League history to be involved in three or more goals.

January signing from Napoli, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, was the next to register his name on the scoresheet with a composed finish off a Ousmane Dembele assist.

PSG still had time for one more goal which came courtesy of substitute Senny Mayulu, who smashed the ball into the back of the net in the 86th minute.

The 5-0 result was the biggest-ever margin in Europe’s premier club competition and made PSG only the second French club to win the Champions League after Olympique Marseille in 1993.
