Lucas Schmidt's double, plus scores from Cadan Murley and Jack Kenningham, helped Harlequins squeeze past Exeter Chiefs in a wild try-fest.
Harlequins left Devon with a hard-earned win after edging Exeter Chiefs in a nine-try shootout that stayed in the balance deep into the contest.
Lucas Schmidt was the headline act for the visitors, crossing twice. Cadan Murley and Jack Kenningham also got on the scoresheet, giving Quins the attacking punch they needed in a game where neither side could pull clear for long.
Exeter stayed in it throughout. Every time Harlequins looked to be settling, the Chiefs hit back, and the see-saw rhythm kept the result uncertain until the end. With nine tries in total, defences on both sides were stretched and the game became a test of who could hold their nerve.
The result is a statement away from home for Harlequins, whose finishers made the most of their chances. Exeter will be left to rue the moments that slipped away in a match that could have gone either way.
