German-Ghanaian defender Hendry Blank saw red and two deflections go against him as Fürth were beaten 3-0 by Dynamo Dresden in the 2. Bundesliga.
German-Ghanaian defender Hendry Blank had a night to forget in the 2. Bundesliga, as he was sent off in Greuther Fürth's 3-0 defeat to Dynamo Dresden at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion.
The trouble started almost immediately. Blank was booked inside the opening minute for a high challenge that caught Vincent Vermeij in the face, and he spent the rest of the evening walking a disciplinary tightrope.
Misfortune followed him on the scoresheet too. Robert Wagner put Dresden ahead in the 31st minute with a shot that took a deflection off Blank on its way in. Ten minutes before the break, Ben Bobzien's effort also struck the Ghana-eligible defender and looped past goalkeeper Florian Hellstern to make it 2-0.
Vermeij then put the game beyond Fürth five minutes after the restart, finishing from close range after a Bobzien assist. Blank's night ended in the 62nd minute, when he picked up a second yellow for a tactical foul on Bobzien, leaving Fürth to play the remainder with ten men. Dresden managed the game comfortably from there and took all three points.
Blank has made eight appearances for Fürth this season without a goal or an assist. After a result like this, the defender will be looking for a quick bounce-back to rebuild his confidence and help steady a side that was thoroughly outplayed in Dresden.
