Hearts of Oak's Hussein Mohammed reckons his Techiman roots could split the stands when the Phobians visit Debibi United on Sunday.
Hussein Mohammed is heading back to familiar ground, and the Hearts of Oak attacking midfielder believes the home crowd may not be entirely against him. A proud son of Techiman, he says his bond with the people of Debibi runs deep enough to add a fascinating twist to Sunday's Ghana Premier League clash.
Mohammed previously turned out for the newly promoted side and insists he left behind a loyal following. Speaking ahead of the trip, he made it clear he sees the area as a second home. "I can say I'm also from there," he explained, pointing to the many fans who backed him during his time at Debibi United. With him now wearing Hearts colors, he expects some of that support to follow him.
The Matchday Nine fixture takes place at Debibi Presby Park, and the Phobians arrive in confident mood. Hearts have won their last three league games, the latest a 1-0 success over Basake Holy Stars at the UG Sports Stadium last weekend.
That result lifted Hearts to second in the table with 17 points from eight matches. They are level on points with leaders Medeama SC and trail only on goal difference, so every result now carries title-race weight.
For Debibi, the occasion is a chance to prove their top-flight credentials against one of Ghana's biggest names. Add a returning fan favorite on the opposing side, and Sunday has all the ingredients of a memorable afternoon in Techiman country.
