Iñaki Williams has won the La Liga EA Sports African MWP award after a great season where he scored 12 goals.
Iñaki Williams has been named the winner of the La Liga EA Sports African MWP award! This prestigious honor recognizes the best African player in the league, and Williams' impressive performance this season earned him the top spot.
The voting process was a combination of jury votes from African journalists from 31 countries and fan votes. Williams received an impressive 46 points, representing 24% of the votes, solidifying his position as the top African player in La Liga.
Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid came in second with 37 points, followed by Youssef En-Nesyri of Sevilla FC with 30 points. Previous winners of this award include Yassine Bounou of Sevilla FC and Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal CF.
After receiving the trophy from Athletic Club’s legend Andoni Goikoetxea, Williams said in an interview with SuperSport: "Thank you very much for the acknowledgment. It is an honour to represent all African players in LaLiga. My roots in Ghana are as deep as my love for Bilbao and Athletic Club. I hope to be in contention for this same award next season."
