Isaiah Thomas has been in advanced talks with the Los Angeles Lakers lately. It's been confirmed that the ex-Boston Celtics point guard will return to the NBA after some time off. He is expected to make his first game for the Lakers as soon as he lands in California. Since the team from the "City of Angels" misses a lot of its players due to Covid-19, the NBA granted them with a permission to sign Isaiah Thomas on a 10-day contract. He has most recently signed with the Grand Rapids Gold in the NBA G League on December 13, 2021. Two days later, he enjoyed a fantastic debut for his new team. Thomas averaged 42 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists in a 127-131 loss to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Isaiah started his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings as he was selected in the Second Round of 2011 NBA Draft.

His career reached its peak around 2017 when he was playing for the Boston Celtics. Isaiah led his team to the Eastern Conference Finals when they were defeated by LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers. His influence was the biggest in the 2nd Round of the Playoffs against the Washington Wizards. Unfortunately for him, he suffered one of the worst things in life - losing his sister in a car accident. A couple of days later though, he managed to pull off an incredible game. In game 2 against the Wizards, Thomas has been unstoppable scoring 53 points which was the second highest for a Celtics player in the Playoffs. He averaged 28.9 for the Boston Celtics and was named twice in the NBA All-Star team.
Isaiah was later acquired by the same Cavs who defeated him last season. Ever since the end of the 2016/2017 season, Thomas had difficulties in the NBA. He didn't manage to return back to his fantastic form during the Celtics' Playoffs run. He was traded back and forth between the Lakers, the Wizards, and the Nuggets. His desire to play basketball remained the same, but it is unlikely to see him once again in his beast mode from 2017.
