Ivory Coast footballer, aged 32, dies after being poisoned

Ivorian footballer Oussou Konan has died at the age of 32. The former Al Ahly player is believed to have been poisoned while on holiday in his homeland.

The striker died in his hometown of Yopougon and the cause of his death is poisoning.

Konan also played for Misr El-Makkasa and El-Gaish during his career.

He started out at Africa Sports Ivory Coast, then headed to Egypt in 2010 where he signed with Misr El-Makasa, and then played for Tunisia's Espérance Sportive de Tunis. There Konan scored 11 goals in 27 games, which attracted the attention of Egyptian giant Al-Ahly. They paid 160 thousand pounds for him in July 2012.

Konan only recorded six games and failed to have an impact on Al-Ahly due to the suspension of the Egyptian championship. He was part of the team that wodn the African Champions League in 2012.

A transfer followed to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hajer, followed by a move to Turkey's Gaziantep in the summer of 2013.

This was then followd by a period at Finnish grand HJK Helsinki, with whom he won a double in 2014.

His career then moved on to Omani side Saham, Tunisia's Bizertin, Ivory Coast's San Pédro, Switzerland's Sion and Lausanne and Vietnam's FC Nam Dinh.

He last played for Saudi second-tier Al-Bukiryah.
