Jessica Appiah Shines as Ghana's Black Maidens Hold Brazil 3-3 at U17 World Cup

Teen star Jessica Appiah set up Ghana's crucial third goal and took MVP honors as the Black Maidens fought back to draw Brazil in a six-goal thriller.

Ghana's Jessica Appiah has announced herself on the world stage. The U17 attacker was named player of the match after the Black Maidens battled Brazil to a 3-3 draw at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.

Appiah was a constant threat on Wednesday, and her biggest moment came in the second half. She provided the assist for Ghana's third goal, the one that earned the team a point in a Group C clash that never let up.

Brazil struck first, with Nicolly scoring in the 7th minute. Ghana answered with force. Rafia Osman equalized in the 31st minute, and Gloria Ameaa put the Black Maidens ahead four minutes later. Brazil hit back before the break through Kaillany Rafinah, so the sides went in level at 2-2.

After the restart, Ghana created the better chances and had enough opportunities to leave with all three points. Too many of them went begging. Each side found the net once more, and the match finished 3-3.

The Black Maidens will be disappointed not to have won, but a point against a Brazilian side like this, plus a standout performance from a teenager on the biggest stage, gives them plenty to build on in the group.
