NBA star Joel Embiid is guaranteed the remaining $95 million on his contract with Philadelphia 76ers over the next three years.
The Cameroonian’s contract had been shrouded in a bit of confusion due to the shortened season.
However, ESPN reports that the Sixers center has been handed a huge respite after the league finalized an agreement on prorating performance bonuses an incentives using March 11 as the end of the season.
Per this agreement, the eight seeding games in Orlando will also be eliminated from the calculation.
Embiid signed a $148 million max deal in 2017, which stipulated that he must log a certain number of total minutes this season.
Per the prorated computation of the shortened season, the 26-year-old has already achieved it.
The Sixers inserted some insurances clauses in Embiid’s contract after injury ruled him out for the first two years of his NBA career.
He was, therefore, required to play a certain number of minutes to be able to demand the full monetary benefits of his contract.
