Michael Jordan's Last Dance season jersey just became the most expensive piece of basketball memorabilia ever sold, fetching $14m at auction.
The GOAT's legacy just got a fresh price tag. A jersey from Michael Jordan's famous 'Last Dance' season has sold for $14m (about £10.6m), setting a new record for basketball memorabilia.
The shirt comes from the 1997-98 campaign, Jordan's final run with the Chicago Bulls. It was the season that closed out a dynasty and ended with a sixth NBA title. Years later, the docuseries that borrowed the name sent the story to a new generation of fans around the world, and collectors have chased anything connected to it ever since.
The sale shows how far sports memorabilia has come. Game-worn items from the sport's biggest icons are now treated as blue-chip collectibles, and Jordan sits at the top of that market. Few athletes combine his on-court résumé with his global brand, and bidders clearly know it.
For basketball fans, the number is a reminder of Jordan's pull. More than two decades after he left the game, his name can still break records.
