Ghana's Joseph Opoku bagged a goal and an assist as Swansea City cruised past Blackburn Rovers in a dominant Championship display.
Ghanaian forward Joseph Opoku is making the Championship his stage. The 21-year-old scored and set up another goal on Saturday as Swansea City thrashed Blackburn Rovers 4-0 at home, bouncing back in style.
Opoku was involved almost immediately. He teed up Stephen Eustaquio for the opener inside the first 10 minutes, then took matters into his own hands midway through the half. A defensive slip from Tom Atcheson gave him the chance to run into space, and he made no mistake, firing past goalkeeper Balazs Toth.
Swansea never let up. Filip Lissah added a third before the break, leaving the hosts firmly in control at half-time, with Opoku having a hand in two of the three goals. Ross Stewart then put the finishing touch on the afternoon in the second half, wrapping up a commanding win for head coach Vitor Matos and his side.
The numbers keep stacking up for the young Ghanaian. Since arriving from Belgian club Zulte Waregem in the summer, Opoku now has five goal involvements in 12 appearances for the Welsh side. The win was also a much-needed reaction after last weekend's defeat to Queens Park Rangers, and Opoku was right at the heart of it.
