After seven straight overtime losses, Josh Allen finally broke through, powering Buffalo past Matthew Stafford and the Rams on a chaotic Monday night.
Josh Allen has finally cracked the overtime code. The Buffalo Bills quarterback entered Monday night 0-7 in extra sessions, but he left with the win that had eluded him his entire career, as the Bills outlasted the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 in a shootout.
Allen did it with his arm and, above all, his legs. He threw for 210 yards and ran for 121 more, totaling 331 yards from scrimmage and accounting for two touchdowns. The performance lifted Buffalo to 4-1 and showed why he remains one of the most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks in the league.
The game turned in overtime. Greg Rousseau got a hand on a Rams field goal attempt and blocked it, handing Buffalo the momentum. Tyler Bass then took advantage, drilling a 45-yard field goal with 1:55 left to seal the win.
Los Angeles didn't go quietly. Matthew Stafford was brilliant in defeat, throwing for 383 yards and three touchdowns, and he kept the Rams in the fight until the final snap. With the last two NFL MVPs under center, the matchup lived up to its billing, and Allen got the last word.
