Juventus reach final of Coppa Italia despite draw with AC Milan

Italian giants Juventus reached the final of the Coppa Italia following a goalless draw with AC Milan on Friday.

The Bianconeri advanced to the final on the away goals rule, having drawn 1-1 with Milan in the first leg.

Playing in an empty stadium on Italy football’s return, the Turin outfit were unfortunate not to go ahead early in the first half after Cristiano Ronaldo uncharacteristically missed from the spot.

Following a handball in the Milan box, the Portuguese assumed responsibility but fluffed his lines, hitting his hot against the post.

Shortly after, Milan’s Ante Rebic was sent off following a reckless foul on Danilo. But despite the numerical advantage for Juve, there were no goals in the first half.

Maurizio Sarri’s outfit enjoyed the larger share of possession during the second half and created some half chances at the other end.

Blaise Matuidi, Paulo Dybala and Alex Sandro all tested Gianluigi Donnarumma into saves, as the game neared its end.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic missing the game due to injury, it was evident that Milan missed the big Swede’s presence.

Juventus will now face either Inter Milan or Napoli in the final, with the latter clubs set to face off today in the second leg of the Coppa Italia.
