Three straight wins have Hearts of Oak flying, and coach Nebojsa Kapor says the good energy is felt from the pitch to the stands.
Serbian tactician Nebojsa Kapor is stirring something special at Accra Hearts of Oak, and the Ghana Premier League is taking notice. The Phobians are on a three-match winning run that has lifted them, at least for now, to the top of the table.
Their latest triumph came on Friday at the University of Ghana Stadium, where Martin Karikari struck in the 82nd minute to beat Basake Holy Stars 1-0. The late goal sealed a third consecutive victory, following earlier wins over Port City FC and Vision FC, and moved Hearts to 17 points from eight matches.
Kapor says the results are doing more than adding to the points tally. According to the coach, the mood around the club has changed, with players and supporters feeding off each other's confidence. "You can see it, and you can feel it from the ground. We are really very positive, and that is football," he said, adding that victories are building positive energy.
But the Hearts boss is not letting the celebrations run away with him. Kapor stressed that a winning team must also learn to stay calm, handle its emotions and keep a level head as expectations rise. With the league race heating up, that composure could be just as important as the goals as Hearts look to hold on to their spot at the summit.
