Karela United Chase Redemption as Port City Roll into Tamale

Karela United look to bounce back at Aliu Mahama Stadium when fourth-placed Port City visit in Ghana Premier League Week 8.

Tamale becomes the centre of the Ghana Premier League this Sunday, as Karela United host FC Port City at Aliu Mahama Stadium in Week 8. For the home side it is a chance at redemption, and for the visitors a chance to stay among the top sides.

Karela arrive stinging from last Sunday's defeat to Swedru All Blacks. They have nine points from six matches, with three wins and three losses. Their goal record is perfectly balanced at seven scored and seven conceded, about 1.17 goals per game at each end. That is the profile of a team still searching for consistency.

The fix looks simple on paper: tighter at the back and sharper in front of goal. Karela cannot afford loose moments against a side with Port City's ambitions, and they will need to take their chances when they come.

Port City have started a little better. They sit fourth with 10 points from six games, built on three wins, one draw and two defeats. Their last outing was a draw with Dreams FC, and they will want to build on that result rather than let momentum slip.

With a top-four side travelling to a home team desperate to respond, Sunday in Tamale has the makings of a tense, tightly fought contest.
