Ghana's teenage forward Kingsley Bimpong followed a new deal through 2030 with two goals as AC Horsens thrashed Sonderjyske 5-1.
Another young Ghanaian is making noise in Europe. Kingsley Bimpong, just 19, put together a dream week at Danish side AC Horsens, committing his future to the club and then scoring twice in a 5-1 demolition of Sonderjyske on Sunday, October 25.
The forward's new contract runs until the summer of 2030, a clear sign of how highly Horsens rate the teenager. He answered the vote of confidence on the pitch, finding the net twice to help power the team to a comfortable win.
Horsens coach Niki Zimling was happy to talk about the script of the week, saying it could hardly have been written better. But he was more interested in the player's habits than his goals. Zimling said Bimpong has worked incredibly hard, and that this matters more to him than any scoreline.
Zimling also used the moment to point to Horsens' willingness to back young players, whether they come through the academy or the club's recruitment network. Bimpong is now the example of that approach working.
For Ghanaian football, it is another encouraging story on the pathway from local talent to European minutes. A teenager who moved abroad, earned trust and is being rewarded with a long-term deal is the kind of progress African prospects dream about, and Bimpong looks set to keep building on it.
