Defending champions Medeama left Kumasi with a point after Musah Hamzarat's header cancelled out Usman Safianu's strike in a fierce Ghana Premier League clash.
Ghana's top-flight heavyweights went toe to toe at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, and neither side could find a winner. Asante Kotoko and defending champions Medeama SC shared a 1-1 draw in the headline fixture of Matchday Nine, with a pair of powerful headers settling the contest.
Medeama struck first in the 42nd minute. Usman Safianu timed his run and header to perfection to put the visitors ahead just before the break. It capped a composed first-half display from the league leaders, who showed real attacking intent against a Kotoko side that refused to be rattled.
The Porcupine Warriors came out after the restart with fresh urgency, and it paid off in the 55th minute. Captain Musah Hamzarat rose above the defence to meet a well-rehearsed set-piece routine and powered his header home. The Kumasi crowd erupted as the hosts levelled the score.
The point keeps Medeama at the top of the Ghana Premier League table on 18 points, while Kotoko stay in the chase. With the title race this tight and both sides showing their quality, every dropped point from here will matter.
