Kotoko's stand-in boss Diogo Peral could face a GFA ban after a touchline brawl with Medeama's Eben Adade at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Ghana's Premier League has another discipline storm on its hands, as Asante Kotoko stand-in coach Diogo Peral now awaits his fate from the Ghana Football Association after a punch thrown at Medeama defender Eben Adade during Sunday's clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The drama erupted near Kotoko's technical area. Adade, the left-back for the defending champions, dashed to fetch a ball that had run out of play, and the pair collided in a tense exchange. Adade shoved the Portuguese tactician to the ground, and Peral got back up and responded with a punch to the defender's face.
The referee had no hesitation and produced a straight red card, sending Peral off and leaving Kotoko to cope without their touchline leader for the rest of the contest.
The Porcupine Warriors kept their composure despite the chaos, digging in to claw out a 1-1 draw against the Tarkwa-based side. It was a gritty response from a team that could easily have unravelled.
The bigger question now is what comes next. With the incident in full view, the GFA's disciplinary authorities are expected to scrutinise it closely, and Peral could be hit with a suspension or other sanctions for on-field violence.
