Ghana's Kwame Peprah found the net in Svay Rieng's 5-1 rout of Tampines Rovers, the Cambodian side's first Group G win in the AFC Champions League Two.
Ghanaian forward Kwame Peprah is making his mark in Southeast Asia. He scored in the 42nd minute as Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC thrashed Tampines Rovers 5-1 in the AFC Champions League Two at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
The Cambodian side were ruthless from the start. Martins Júnior broke the deadlock in the ninth minute, and Tiago Alves then struck twice, in the 15th and 24th minutes, to give the visitors a firm grip on the contest.
Peprah piled on the pain shortly before the interval. He finished off a pass from Sylvester van de Water to make it 4-0, leaving Tampines with a mountain to climb at the break.
Svay Rieng kept pushing after the restart. Substitute Ofufu Ibeh added a fifth in the 69th minute, set up by Takashi Odawara. Raoul Suhaimi pulled one back for Tampines in the 90th minute, but it was only a consolation.
The result is Svay Rieng's first win in Group G and lifts them to four points from three matches. For Peprah, it is a timely goal on a big continental stage.
