Daniel-Kofi Kyereh's goal and assist in his first league start for Osnabrück earned him a place in the 2. Bundesliga Team of the Week.
Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has made an instant impression in German football's second tier. He has been named in the 2. Bundesliga Team of the Week after a goal-and-assist performance for VfL Osnabrück.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder was handed his first league start for the club and made it count. Osnabrück beat Greuther Fürth 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Stadion an der Bremer Brücke, and Kyereh was at the heart of it.
He broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with a composed finish, set up by Robin Meissner. Two minutes later the roles reversed. Kyereh played provider and teed up Meissner to make it 2-0, leaving the hosts firmly in control at the break.
Osnabrück kept their grip after the restart, and Kyereh stayed involved until he was substituted in the 67th minute. His replacement, Ismail Badjie, then added the third goal to seal a dominant afternoon for the home side.
Kyereh took the Man of the Match award, and his place in the Team of the Week is a strong early statement. He will now look to build on it as he settles into life at Osnabrück.
