Kylian Mbappe claps back at those Who tag Ligue 1 as ‘farmers league’

Share

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has mocked critics of Ligue 1 following Lyon’s win over Manchester City in the semi-final of the Uefa Champions League.

Lyon knocked out Pep Guardiola’s side after an impressive 3-1 win, becoming the second French team to reach the semis of the competition.

Earlier, PSG had also booked a place in the last four following a 2-1 comeback win over Serie A side Atalanta.

Mbappe took the opportunity to hit back at critics who describe the Ligue 1 as a ‘farmers league’.

In a Twitter post, the 21-year-old congratulated Lyon for their huge victory, accompanied by the comment “farmers league”.

Mbappe has formed a strong partnership with Neymar, with the pair propelling PSG to numerous trophies.

There have been recently speculations linking both players away from the French side, but PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi belives they will stay at the club for a long time.

“Neymar and Kylian are some of the best players in the world but it was the team that had a great game, even though Ney was really good,” he told RMC Sport.

“In recent months he has changed in the team. They're both going to stay, they're never going to leave!"

Meanwhile, PSG will need to beat RB Leipzig to progress to the final of this year’s Champions League.
