It might have felt like this moment was coming for some time as a series of documentaries and specials were rolled out supporting John Madden in the past month or so.  It's safe to say that he received his flowers while he was alive.  One of the most Iconic figures in the history of American sports has passed at the age of 85.  John Madden's imprint on the game has literally transferred to gaming making him synonymous with the video game that carries his name.
"Nobody loved football more than Coach," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement Tuesday evening. "He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others."
"There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today."Madden was a dominating coach for the Oakland Raiders winning one Super Bowl in the process.  To those between the ages of 30 and 40 then know him best as an iconic sportscaster.  For those of the younger generation , they know him as the namesake of EA Sport's Madden."I am not aware of anyone who has made a more meaningful impact on the National Football League than John Madden," Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement Tuesday. "And I know of no one who loved the game more." John Madden will be missed.
