Detroit linebacker Jack Campbell reports encouraging signs of recovery after a frightening neck injury during Sunday's win over Minnesota.
There is good news out of Detroit. Lions linebacker Jack Campbell says he has regained some movement in his upper body after a serious neck injury in Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings.
The 26-year-old also reports full movement in his lower body, an encouraging update after a game that left everyone inside the stadium shaken. Campbell was hurt while making a tackle and spent nine minutes receiving treatment on the field.
Players from both sides were visibly distraught as the medical staff worked. Rivalries went quiet and the focus shifted entirely to a fellow competitor in trouble. Campbell was then taken to a hospital in the Detroit area for further care.
The Lions got the win, but the result was secondary on a day like this. For now, the story is Campbell's progress, and every bit of movement he regains is a positive step in his recovery.
