Lookman Delivers Again In Atalanta’s 2-0 Win Over Stuttgart

Share

Second-half goals from Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and Nicolo Zaniolo earned Atalanta a 2-0 win at VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Lookman has now scored three goals in his last two appearances for the Europa League champions.

The result means the Italian side are still yet to concede a goal in this season’s competition.

The defeat ended Stuttgart’s impressive home record of not losing a game in any competition for more than a year, while Atalanta continued their excellent form, unbeaten in their last eight matches.

Atalanta moved up to ninth in the standings on eight points, with Stuttgart dropping out of the playoff zone as they slipped to 27th with four points.

Elsewhere, Arsenal suffered their first defeat in this season’s UEFA Champions League after falling to a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan at the San Siro on Wednesday.

The Gunners have lost back-to-back games following their 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United last weekend.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu was the hero for Inter after converting from the penalty spot three minutes of added time in the first half following a handball by Mikel Merino.

At the Parc de Princes Atletico Madrid defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1.

Warren Zaire-Emery gave PSG the lead in the 14th minute but just four minutes later Nahuel Molina equalised for Atletico.

Then in the 93rd minute Angel Correa netted the winner for Atletico.

Atalanta moved up to ninth in the standings on eight points, with Stuttgart dropping out of the playoff zone as they slipped to 27th with four points.
