Lookman’s 50th Serie A Goal Seals Atalanta’s 4-0 Thrashing of Juventus

Share

Ademola Lookman scored his 50th Serie A goal as Atalanta humiliated Juventus with a resounding 4-0 victory in their clash at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Lookman played a key role in the rout, capping off a dominant performance with a well-taken goal that sealed an emphatic win for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in the battle for third place.

The Nigerian forward was a constant menace for the Juventus defence, coming close twice in the first half—first seeing a deflected effort crash against the post before forcing Michele Di Gregorio into a desperate save moments later.

The Partenopei took the lead through a Mateo Retegui penalty in the 35th minute after Weston McKennie handled the ball inside the box.

Marten de Roon doubled the advantage early in the second half, pouncing on a rebound after Lookman’s powerful shot was initially parried by the Juve goalkeeper.

Lookman continued to torment Thiago Motta’s men and was instrumental in Atalanta’s third goal, with Davide Zappacosta firing home after a brilliant exchange with Sead Kolasinac.

The former Leicester City star then put the icing on the cake in the 75th minute, capitalizing on Dusan Vlahovic’s slip in midfield to race through on goal.

His shot took a slight deflection, wrong-footing Di Gregorio and sending sections of the Juventus crowd heading for the exits.

Juventus failed to find a response, with Marco Carnesecchi denying McKennie late on to ensure Atalanta kept a clean sheet and secured a vital three points in the race for Champions League qualification.
