The Dallas Mavericks took on the Chicago Bulls in their American Airlines Center on Sunday night. Both teams were coming off a couple of straight wins, marking their incredible performance recently.
The home-side were slight favorites to win the match as they started off with a 10-2 lead. However, the Bulls took a 10-point advantage in the end of the first quarter, 22-32.
A 9-0 run to wrap up the first half brought the Mavs back into the game. It was anybody's match at 54-55 at halftime. The third quarter had some lead changes as the hosts kept a 4-point lead in the end.
A fantastic start to the last 12 minutes of the match gave the Mavs a comfortable double-digit advantage. They ended up closing the game, 113-99, thus snapping Chicago's 9-game winning streak.
Luka Doncic led the way for his team with a record triple-double in his career. He dropped 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists for 35 minutes on the court. This meant that he broke yet another NBA record. Luca Doncic topped the list with the most triple-doubles (39) made by a player who is 23 years or younger.
Josh Green came up huge off the bench, scoring 18 points on 8-10 shooting. Jalen Brunson copied his performance from the field, but finished off with 17 points.
The Chicago Bulls couldn't use Alex Caruso, but aside from him, they were fully stacked. Unfortunately for them, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic underperformed, making it almost impossible for the Bulls to win it. They were both struggling at around 35% from the field as LaVine dropped 20 points, while Vucevic added just 13 points.
DeMar DeRozan was the most efficient player on the Bulls, but his 56.3% FGM didn't help his team. Lonzo Ball also had a mediocre night as he finished off with just 9 points.
This was the sixth straight win for the Mavericks who are yet to lose a game in 2022. They are now 5th in the West with 22 wins and 18 losses. The team from Texas still awaits Kristaps Porzingis' return.
The Chicago Bulls continue storming the East as they hold the top spot with a 26-11 record. They are quite ahead of the Nets who are in 2nd place with 25 wins and 13 losses.
