Dilshan Madushanka's career-best 5-34 bowled Pakistan out for 110 as Sri Lanka won by eight wickets and ended England's hopes of reaching the final.
Dilshan Madushanka produced a career-best spell on Tuesday as Sri Lanka crushed Pakistan by eight wickets, and in doing so shut England out of the ODI tri-series final.
Captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and chose to bowl first, and the call paid off almost immediately. Madushanka tore through the Pakistan batting order and finished with figures of five for 34, the best of his career. Pakistan folded for just 110.
With such a small target to chase, Sri Lanka were always in control. Winning by eight wickets, they sealed the result comfortably and looked like a side that has found its rhythm at the right moment.
The result has consequences beyond this match. England, who needed help to stay alive in the competition, can no longer reach the final. For Sri Lanka it was a statement win, built on a fast bowler in top form and a team playing with fresh confidence.
