The former Jets QB has agreed in principle to settle with the 69-year-old trucker who stabbed him during a parking dispute in Indianapolis.
Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has reached an agreement in principle with the truck driver who stabbed him in a street altercation last October, closing a chapter in one of the strangest off-field stories of the NFL season.
The driver, Perry Tole, was 69 at the time. He stabbed and pepper sprayed Sanchez in Indianapolis, where the ex-New York Jets passer was in town as a broadcast analyst for the Colts-Raiders game. The clash reportedly started over a parking spot.
Prosecutors said Tole used the pepper spray and knife in self-defense after Sanchez tried to get into his truck during the argument. Sanchez was charged over the confrontation. Fox Sports later parted ways with him, ending his run in the analyst chair.
For Sanchez, once the face of the Jets during back-to-back AFC Championship Game runs, the settlement lets him move past a messy and very public episode. Terms of the deal have not been made clear, and the finer details are still to be worked out.
