CAF has turned to Mauritania's Moussa Diou to officiate the first leg as Ghana's Black Meteors chase U-23 AFCON qualification in Libya.
Mauritania takes center stage in North Africa as CAF names Moussa Diou to referee the opening leg of Ghana's U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya. It is a big continental assignment for one of the region's established match officials.
Diou will have a fully Mauritanian team beside him. Hamedine Diba is Assistant Referee I, Abderrahmane Anne takes Assistant Referee II, and Abdel Kader M'Bareck is the fourth official. Oversight comes from Algeria's Djamel Ould Ammar, the match commissioner, and Tunisia's Said Mohamed Kordi, the referee assessor.
The first leg is set for the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, with kick-off at 19:00 GMT (17:00 local time). The pitch is artificial turf, a surface that could shape the tempo and the way Ghana's young players settle into the contest.
The tie then moves to the Accra Sports Stadium for the return leg on Tuesday, November 17, 2026. Ghana will want to take a result away from home and finish the job in front of their own fans, with a place at the continental finals on the line.
