Mbappe Named Best French Player For Fourth Time In Row

Share

Kylian Mbappe has been named the Ligue 1 player of the season for the fourth consecutive time. This recognition comes after his instrumental role in helping Paris Saint-Germain secure their 11th French title, a record for the club.

The talented French star has scored an impressive 28 goals in the league this season and is on track to claim the top scorer title for the fifth consecutive season.

Expressing his delight upon receiving the award, Mbappe stated, "It's a pleasure, I always wanted to win and leave my mark on the league's history. However, even with all my ambitions, I did not expect to achieve this level of success so quickly."

Last season, Mbappe turned down an offer from Real Madrid and instead signed a new three-year contract with PSG. Reports suggest that his contract will expire next year, unless he exercises an option to extend it until 2025.

When questioned about his future at the awards ceremony, Mbappe confidently replied, "I will be here again next season."

Mbappe's achievement as a four-time winner of this prize, which was first awarded in 1994, surpasses Zlatan Ibrahimovic's three-time win during his tenure with PSG.

In other accolades, Franck Haise of Lens was named coach of the season for guiding the club to a remarkable second-place finish and a return to Champions League football after two decades. Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba also received recognition, and Paris Saint-Germain's left-back Nuno Mendes was honored as the best young player.

Furthermore, Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Achraf Hakimi, and Nuno Mendes were included in the Ligue 1 team of the season, with four PSG players featuring prominently.
