English-Ghanaian Ryan McAidoo came off the bench to set up Phil Foden's hat-trick goal as Manchester City thrashed AEK Athens 5-1 in the Champions League.
English-Ghanaian attacker Ryan McAidoo made his mark on the Champions League stage, coming off the bench to provide an assist as Manchester City crushed AEK Athens 5-1 in the third round of the league phase on Tuesday night.
McAidoo replaced Floyd Samba in the 76th minute and needed very little time to get involved. He set up Phil Foden for City's fifth goal, a classy finish to a night when the hosts were in control for most of the game.
City struck first in the 12th minute, when Elliot Anderson reacted fastest to a rebound inside the box. Foden doubled the lead in the 34th minute with a calm finish after a pass from Rico Lewis.
AEK Athens pulled one back in the 52nd minute. Stavro Pilo latched onto a defence-splitting pass and sent a low shot into the bottom-right corner. City's response came just five minutes later, as Foden set up Rayan Cherki, who slotted into the bottom-left corner to make it 3-1.
Foden then added two more goals to complete his hat-trick and seal the result. McAidoo started on the bench, but his late cameo gave him a Champions League assist and put the English-Ghanaian talent on the scoresheet in a big European win.
