Munster boss Clayton McMillan has thrown his support behind Gavin Coombes after the back row alleged he was grabbed in the groin during defeat to Leinster.
Munster head coach Clayton McMillan has publicly stood by Gavin Coombes after the back row claimed he was grabbed in the groin during Saturday's defeat to Leinster.
Coombes, one of Munster's most physical forwards, raised the allegation after the game. The accusation has added an uncomfortable off-field storyline to an already painful result for the province, and it has put one of the sport's fiercest rivalries back in the spotlight.
McMillan's backing signals that Munster take the matter seriously and are firmly behind their player. The coach's stance underlines the club's view that a player who raises a concern of this kind should be supported rather than left to deal with it alone.
What happens next remains to be seen, and the allegation is just that for now. Munster will want to regroup after the loss, while attention turns to whether the matter is pursued further through official channels.
