Kimi Antonelli salutes the 2,500 people behind Mercedes after a fourth and fifth place at Interlagos clinched the constructors' title.
Mercedes are constructors' champions again. The Silver Arrows wrapped up the F1 team title at Interlagos in São Paulo, and newly crowned world champion Kimi Antonelli made sure the credit went to the people behind the scenes.
Lando Norris took the chequered flag for McLaren, but the day belonged to Mercedes. George Russell finished fourth and Antonelli fifth, a haul of points big enough to lock down the team's first constructors' title since 2021. It also completes their first drivers' and constructors' double since 2020.
Antonelli pointed straight to the roughly 2,500 staff who make the team run, calling them an incredible and amazing group of people. For a driver who has just reached the top of the sport, the message was clear: this title belongs to the whole operation, from the factory floor to the pit wall.
Norris had his own reflections after the win. Despite the victory, he admitted his consistency has not been good enough, a blunt assessment from a driver who knows the gap between winning races and winning championships.
For Mercedes, the São Paulo result confirms a return to the summit of Formula 1.
