Mo Farah targets breaking one-hour record on return to track

British athlete Mo Farah has set his sights on breaking the men's one-hour world record when he returns to the track.

The legendary runner will return to the track for the first time since 2017 when he takes on others in Brussels on 4 September.

Farah has won many titles at the world level and in the Olympics, after beginning his career in 1996.

The 37-year-old will look to better Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie's 13-year-old record of 21.285km.

The Briton will also face stiff competition from European 10,000m silver medallist Bashir Abdi in the one-hour run.

Meanwhile, Ethiopian duo Ababel Yeshaneh and Birhane Dibaba will be competing for the women’s record.

Also, Britain's world heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson will aim to finish higher in a 'triathlon' contest.
