Mohamed Salah, Liverpool agree on contract extension, winger to stay at Anfield till 2028

Mohamed Salah will remain at Liverpool until 2028 after he agreed to sign a new deal that will keep him at Anfield.

Liverpool fans can finally relax. After weeks-long negotiations. The Egyptian winger will remain at Liverpool until 2028 under the extended deal.

There were speculations about 32-year-old Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool after multiple contract extension talks ended inconclusively.

The cash-rich Saudi Pro League (SPL) clubs have been hovering above Anfield ever since the first rounds of talks between Liverpool and Salah's camp failed.

Since his arrival from AS Roma in 2017, the "Egyptian King" has been the most important attacker, if not a player, at Liverpool.

His contributions have been indispensable for Jurgen Klopp's side lifting the Premier League and Champions League.

Under new manager Arne Slot, Salah's influence remains unchanged as Salah has become the most successful goalscorer of the team this season.

Salah's current contract expires in June and after negotiations took longer than expected, fueling rumours of a possible move.

However, Spanish media Fichajes reported that Salah is not going anywhere as he has agreed to the terms of a new contract. The signing is now only a formality that remains to be completed.

However, the terms of the new contract remained immediately known.

The news comes not long after Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a dominant but chaotic 6-3 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday thanks to doubles from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

Diaz met Trent Alexander-Arnold's beautiful cross with a diving header to open the scoring before Alexis Mac Allister nodded home from close range to double Liverpool's lead, but James Maddison pulled one back four minutes before half-time.

Dominik Szoboszlai scored in added time and Salah netted twice in seven second-half minutes, before Dejan Kulusevski's volley was followed by Dominic Solanke's 83rd-minute goal to set up a frantic finish until Diaz made it 6-3 two minutes later.

Liverpool are top with 39 points from 16 games, four points above second-placed Chelsea who have played a game more. Spurs remain 11th, with 23 points from 17 games.
