Mohamed Salah set new record in the Premier League

Share

Liverpool talisman, Mohamed Salah has set a new record in the English Premier League over the weekend after beaten Aston Villa.

The newly League champions Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened Aston Villa in the Anfiled.

The Egyptian forward delivered a standout performance for the Reds on the day and registered a late assist for 19-year-old Curtis Jones to score his first league goal for the club, and secure all three points for Jurgen Klopp's side

Salah's assist took him to 100 goal contributions in the competition and saw him become the fastest African, and the fastest non-English player, to achieve the milestone, having recorded 73 goals and 27 assists in just 116 appearances,

The only player to have played a hand in a century of goals in quicker time is the league's all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer, who reached the figure in his 100th appearance in the competition.
Salah, who has netted 17 league goals so far this season, is still in the running for a third consecutive Premier League Golden Boot award but finds himself four goals behind leading goalscorer Jamie Vardy for the campaign.

The attacking midfielder was a joint goal king with his team-mate Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 2 018-2019 English Primer League.
