NBA doesn’t care about Trump’s boycott – LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has brushed off US President Donald Trump’s decision to boycott some NBA games.

According to him, not a single person in the basketball community will miss the viewership of the US President.

Trump has opened kicked against players taking the knee during the national anthem, describing the act as disrespectful.

He further disclosed that he usually turns off games which feature any kind of social justice protests.

However, reacting to this, James, who has been a protagonist in the fight against racial injustice and discrimination, said the NBA won’t miss the US President.

"I really don't think the basketball community are sad about losing his viewership," he said, as quoted by the BBC.

"I can speak for all of us who love the game and we could [not] care less."

The 35-year-old noted that the game “is in a beautiful position and we've got fans all over the world.”

"Our fans love and respect what we try to bring to the game, what's right and what's wrong,” he added.

James and Trump have always not been on the same page, with the four-time NBA most valuable player referring to the US President as a “bum” in 2017.

STAY IN THE GAME
