NBA finals 2020 Game 1: Lakers beat Heat 116:98

The Los Angeles Lakers rebounded quickly from a slow start to dominate the Miami Heat, 116-98, in Game 1.

LeBron James and the Lakers made it look easy in Game 1 of the NBA Finals 2020 against the Miami Heat.

The Lakers showed dominance over the Eastern Conference champions, 116-98 on Wednesday, September 30.

The Los Angeles Lakers, led by their superstar duo - LeBron James and Anthony Davis were too much for the Miami Heat, whose depth got them this far.

Lakers got the most out of their supporting cast in an emphatic 116-98 win.

The Lakers, the West’s No. 1 seed, entered the series as favorites against the Heat, the East’s No. 5 seed, and their top-end talent advantage dictated the terms of the opener.

In the game, James finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists.

Anthony Davis also decisively won his matchup inside, hammering away in the paint to post 34 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

After the game, Lakers coach Frank Vogel described Davis as a great player. “He’s just a great player”.

“The moment doesn’t change things for him. He can hurt you a variety of ways offensively. He led the charge for us with his effort. The bigger the moment, he’s just raising his play,” Lakers coach said.

On his part, Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra said his team has to be a lot better defensively.

“More resolve, more commitment, more multiple efforts, more communication, all of these things. More trust. We have to be much better on that end.”

Miami Heat will need to lick its wounds and regain its balance, but it will need to emerge for Friday’s Game 2 with an entirely different approach.
