Share

The first NBA Basketball school in Africa will launch in January 2025 in Egypt.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is set to launch its first basketball school in Africa, in partnership with New Era Education, a Cairo-based educational services and school management company.

The NBA Basketball School is scheduled to open its doors in January 2025 at Uppingham School Cairo, in New Giza, Egypt.

According to Amadou Gallo Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League, the school aims to develop top talents on the continent and grow the game of basketball in Africa.

"We want to continue to develop top talents on the continent through our partnership with the NBA academy and our Elevate program, which is producing elite talent," Fall said in a recent interview.

"We want to make sure that talents continue to thrive in the league, attract top global talents, and build value in the talents on the continent, while also retaining some talents on the continent."

The NBA Basketball School will cater to youth aged 5-18 and build on the US league's previous initiatives in Cairo, including the Basketball Africa League Nile Conference group phases and Jr. NBA programs.

This launch marks the 17th NBA Basketball School globally, with previous schools established in Australia, Brazil, China, the Dominican Republic, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Uruguay.

As an affiliate of the US National Basketball Association (NBA), NBA Africa is dedicated to growing the game and inspiring future generations of basketball enthusiasts on the continent.
