Neymar banned for two matches after racial abuse incident

Share

Brazilian star player and Paris St-Germain forward Neymar has been banned for two games after he received a red in the match against Marseille over the weekend.

According to a report by the BBC, the French football authorities will also investigate Neymar’s accusation of racial abuse.

The match between PSG and Marseille saw as many as five red cards in a very bad-tempered Ligue 1 match on Sunday, September 13.

Neymar received the last red card in the game after he hit Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez.

The Brazilian subsequently alleged he was abused racially by the Marseille defender and called for investigations into the matter by the football authorities.

Meanwhile, the defender, Gonzalez has also denied Neymar's claim outright.

The other four players who saw red on the day also have been banned - with PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa suspended for six matches.

His team-mate Leandro Paredes has been banned for two games - while for Marseille, Jordan Amavi has received a three-match suspension and Dario Benedetto must sit out one game.
