Ghanaian-descent star Nico Williams is on PSG's radar, but Athletic Bilbao insist nobody gets him for less than his €90m release clause.
Ghanaian-descent winger Nico Williams has landed on Paris Saint-Germain's shortlist, but any move for the Spain international will cost a fortune. Athletic Bilbao reportedly refuse to negotiate below the €90m release clause in his contract.
The Ligue 1 champions are said to be watching the 24-year-old as they weigh up ways to strengthen their attack. Williams has the pace, directness and end product that make him a natural fit for any elite front line, and Paris are not the only big name taking notice. Arsenal and Barcelona have both been linked with him in the past.
Athletic's position is strong thanks to the deal Williams signed in July 2025. That extension ties him to the Basque club until June 2035 and lifted his release clause from roughly €58m to €90m. With a contract that long, Bilbao feel no pressure to listen to lower bids, so suitors face a costly and complicated pursuit.
On the pitch, Williams has just returned to action after a muscle injury picked up on Spain duty in September. His fitness and form will keep the spotlight firmly on him, and with it the transfer speculation. For now, though, Athletic hold all the cards.
