Lando Norris tamed a rain-soaked Interlagos to take pole for McLaren, with Antonelli alongside him and more wet weather looming on Sunday.
Lando Norris has taken pole position for the São Paulo Grand Prix, mastering a drenched and unpredictable Interlagos to put his McLaren at the front of the grid. In conditions that tested every driver on the track, the Briton found the grip and the nerve when it mattered most.
Qualifying dragged on for roughly two and a half hours as heavy rain forced repeated delays. Drivers were left waiting, then thrown back out onto a circuit that kept changing, and Norris was the one who read it best to come out on top.
Kimi Antonelli will line up on the front row next to Norris, with the Mercedes pair making their presence felt in the difficult conditions. Behind them, the grid looks badly shuffled, as a number of drivers picked up penalties that will reorder the field from the middle to the back.
With more rain forecast for race day, nothing is settled. A scrambled starting order and a track that could turn treacherous again set up a wide-open Sunday, where strategy, car control and a little luck could matter as much as raw pace. Pole is Norris's, but Interlagos has a habit of rewriting scripts.
