Northern Ghana's football leaders met in Tamale to review the books and set the agenda for the 2026/27 season.
Football in Northern Ghana is plotting its next chapter. The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) held its 2026 Ordinary Congress at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Friday, October 23, bringing together club representatives, delegates and stakeholders to take stock of the past season and set priorities for the one ahead.
The agenda covered the essentials of running the game in the region. Delegates went through the Association's Activity Report, its Financial Statements and the Auditor's Report, then turned to the proposed budget for the 2026/27 campaign. The competitions calendar and football development programmes also drew discussion, giving stakeholders a chance to measure progress and decide where the focus should go next.
NRFA Chairman Alhaji Abu-Hassan led the Executive Council in engaging delegates on the Association's work and the challenges facing grassroots football in the region. Those challenges matter because the grassroots level is where talent is first found and nurtured.
RFA Coordinator Daasebre Adu-Asare Michael was also present and delivered a goodwill message on behalf of Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, a sign of the national body's support for regional structures.
The Ordinary Congress is part of the Association's statutory responsibilities. It gives stakeholders a platform to scrutinise operations, weigh in on financial matters and shape the plans that will drive football development across the Northern Region.
