Ghana's Joseph Opoku bagged a goal and an assist in Swansea's 4-0 demolition of Blackburn, earning a place in the Championship Team of the Week.
Ghanaian forward Joseph Opoku is turning heads in English football's second tier. His goal and assist against Blackburn Rovers powered Swansea City to a commanding 4-0 win at the Swansea.com Stadium and secured him a spot in the Championship Team of the Week.
Opoku played all 90 minutes of the matchday 13 clash, staying sharp and dangerous as the Swans kept their push for Premier League promotion firmly on track. His fingerprints were all over a complete team performance that left Blackburn with no answers.
He is not the only Swansea man recognised. Right-back Filip Lissah also makes the XI, joining a lineup that features Wolves pair Jose Sa and Hugo Bueno, Leyton Orient's Rarmani Edmonds-Green and Huddersfield Town's Joe Low. Dylan Jones of Tranmere, Middlesbrough's Sebastien Belhater, Grimsby's Geza Turi, Stoke City's Jack McGlynn and MK Dons' Aaron Collins round out the selection.
Opoku has quickly become an important figure in Wales since arriving in the summer from Zulte Waregem. The former Ghana U20 forward now has three goals in 12 appearances for the Swans, and if he keeps producing performances like this one, that tally should keep climbing.
