Ghana's former Black Stars boss is reportedly demanding more than $750,000 from the GFA after his sacking just months before the World Cup.
The fallout from Ghana's coaching chaos has reached FIFA's doorstep. Former Black Stars coach Otto Addo has reportedly taken the Ghana Football Association to world football's governing body, demanding more than $750,000 in unpaid salaries, bonuses and other contractual entitlements.
Addo is said to be claiming roughly 15 months of outstanding wages, plus additional benefits written into his contract. The claim reportedly follows the GFA's failure to settle what he is owed after his contract was terminated in March 2026.
The GFA announced his immediate departure on March 31, 2026, after a miserable international window. Ghana were thrashed 5-1 by Austria in Vienna, then beaten 2-1 by Germany in Stuttgart, stretching their losing run to four matches. The decision landed just 72 days before the 2026 World Cup, where the Black Stars were preparing for a group-stage meeting with England and other opponents.
The 50-year-old had returned for a second spell in charge in March 2024, having first led the national team between 2022 and 2023. Now the fight between coach and federation is moving from the touchline to the legal arena, and it adds another distraction for a Ghana side that can ill afford one on the biggest stage in football.
