Ghana's Prince Ampem struck again in the AFC Champions League Elite, but Shanghai Port lost 3-2 at home to Vietnam's Công An Hà Nội.
Ghanaian midfielder Prince Ampem is making a serious name for himself on the Asian continental stage. He scored again on Tuesday, but his goal could not save Shanghai Port from a 3-2 home defeat to Vietnamese side Công An Hà Nội in the AFC Champions League Elite.
The visitors struck first at Pudong Football Stadium through Brayan Perea in the 35th minute. Ampem answered just before the break, finding the net in the 44th minute to level the game and lift the home crowd going into halftime.
The second half belonged to the Vietnamese side. Leo Arthur put them back in front in the 49th minute, and Miguel Campos pulled Port level on the scoreboard at 2-2 with a 60th-minute strike. But Perea completed his brace in the 69th minute, and Shanghai Port could not find another equaliser.
The loss stings, but Ampem's form is a major positive. He has now scored five goals in three appearances in this season's competition, making him one of Port's most dangerous attacking threats and a showcase for African talent in Asian football.
Shanghai Port will look to bounce back on November 4 against Australia's Newcastle Jets, and they will need Ampem's scoring touch to get their campaign back on track.
