Ghana's Prince Ampem set up one goal and scored another as Shanghai Port won 4-2 at Newcastle Jets in the AFC Champions League Elite.
Ghanaian midfielder Prince Ampem was the star again on Tuesday, scoring and creating a goal as Shanghai Port beat Newcastle Jets 4-2 on the road in the AFC Champions League Elite. The 28-year-old had a hand in two of his side's goals at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Ampem got Shanghai Port going in the 23rd minute, when his delivery found Brazilian forward Leonardo, who headed home from close range. Three minutes later the lead doubled when Newcastle defender Thomas Aquilina turned the ball into his own net.
Then came Ampem's moment. In the 51st minute he found the bottom corner to make it 3-0 and put the visitors firmly in control. Newcastle fought back through Patrick Wood in the 58th minute and Xavier Bertoncello in the 80th, but Li Xinxiang settled it in the 86th, finishing from Yang Xi's assist. Ampem had already been substituted in the 76th minute after another influential display.
The Ghanaian's form in the competition is hard to ignore. He now has six goals and one assist in four AFC Champions League Elite appearances this season, and he has found the net in every one of those matches.
