Ghana's Prince Ampem bagged his fourth AFC Champions League Elite goal in two games, but Shanghai Port had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Daejeon Hana Citizen.
Ghanaian forward Prince Ampem keeps cooking on the Asian stage. The 28-year-old struck again on Tuesday, giving Shanghai Port the lead in a 1-1 draw with South Korea's Daejeon Hana Citizen in the AFC Champions League Elite league phase.
Ampem pounced four minutes after the restart, punishing a defensive mistake to put the Chinese Super League champions in front. The joy didn't last long. Within five minutes, Diogo Oliveira hit back for Daejeon, and the points were shared.
The strike was Ampem's fourth in just two continental outings this season. He announced himself in the competition with a first-half hat-trick against Ratchaburi FC, and he has quickly become one of the most dangerous attackers in the tournament. The Ghanaian is on loan at Shanghai Port from Turkish side Eyüpspor.
Across all competitions in 2026, Ampem now has nine goals and three assists in 26 appearances for the club. That kind of output is a real lift for Shanghai Port as they juggle domestic duties with their continental ambitions.
The draw means they missed out on a full haul against Daejeon, but with Ampem sharp in front of goal, the Chinese side have plenty of reason for optimism as the league phase moves on.
