Ghana's Prince Kwabena Adu struck twice as Viktoria Plzeň romped past Vysočina Jihlava to book their place in the MOL Cup last 16.
Ghanaian forward Prince Kwabena Adu was the star of the night on Wednesday, scoring twice as Viktoria Plzeň crushed Vysočina Jihlava 6-1 and moved into the last 16 of the MOL Cup. The 23-year-old struck in each half of the third-round tie and showed the sharpness Plzeň needed to cruise through.
The hosts made a flying start. Stefan Pirgič opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and Adu doubled the lead just two minutes later, finishing off a Ladislav Ladra pass. Jihlava hit back almost immediately through Lukáš Moudrý in the 14th minute to make it 2-1, but Plzeň regained control and kept the visitors at arm's length until the break.
Adu put the contest beyond doubt after the interval. In the 55th minute he controlled a cross from Salim Fago Lawal, turned sharply and fired into the far corner to restore the two-goal cushion. Adam Sojka made it 4-1 two minutes later, and from there it was a procession.
Mohamed Toure added a fifth in the 84th minute, and Denis Višinský converted from the penalty spot four minutes later to complete the rout. Plzeň march on in the Czech cup, and Adu's double is a strong statement from the young Ghanaian as the knockout rounds approach.
