Ghana's Rahim Ibrahim hit a career-best fifth goal in nine games to help Slovan Bratislava beat Podbrezova 2-1 in the Slovak Super Liga.
Ghana's Rahim Ibrahim is firmly on the map in Slovakia. The 22-year-old midfielder scored again on Saturday evening, his fifth goal of the season, as Slovan Bratislava beat FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova 2-1 in the Super Liga.
The goal came in only his ninth appearance of the campaign and his sixth start. It also pushes him past his previous best of four goals in a single season, so the youngster is already writing new numbers into his own record book.
Slovan took control before the break. Armenian midfielder Tigran Barseghyan opened the scoring four minutes before the interval, finishing off an assist from Nino Marcelli. Shortly after the restart, Ibrahim doubled the lead to put the visitors in a commanding position.
Podbrezova refused to go quietly. Czech midfielder Ondrej Deml pulled one back in the 62nd minute and the hosts pushed late on, but Slovan held firm for all three points. Ibrahim's strike ended up being the decisive one.
For Ghanaian football, it is another encouraging story from a young West African talent making his mark in Europe. If he keeps this form up, Ibrahim will keep collecting milestones.
